Karen DeLeonard, Nutrition Counseling, Yoga
Karen is a certified Yoga Teacher, a Reiki Practitioner and a Holistic Health Counselor. She endorses the holistic approach to wellness and blends healing energies as she teaches and counsels her clients. They are then empowered with a richer understanding of their optimum health potential and with a deeper fulfillment in their personal journey.
As a Yoga Teacher, Karen teaches easy, flowing, breath coordinated movements that the body craves. Karen says, “Our bodies were designed for movement, not for sitting hours on end at a computer, at a video game or in front of a TV. Once we’ve stretched and brought flexibility to the spine and have learned how to breathe deeply, we are no longer content to sit mindlessly for yoga brings us into the present.”
Karen completed a 200-hour National Yoga Certification program sanctioned by the Yoga Alliance. She adapted a heart-centered, new paradigm style of Hatha Yoga. Since this style favors the experience over appearance and the practice of staying in the moment, it allows for a less stressful class. People achieve a better handling of stress and restoration of balance.
As a Reiki Practitioner, Karen offers profound healing because Reiki is also a technique for stress reduction and relaxation. Reiki is administered by the "laying on of hands" to a fully clothed body and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through all of us. If life force energy is low, a person is more likely to get sick or feel stress related issues more strongly. If life force energy is high, a person is more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki has been effective in alleviating virtually every known illness and creates a beneficial effect to both the giver and receiver. Reiki also works in conjunction with all medical and therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and to promote easier, quicker recovery. Reiki is a natural and safe method of physical and spiritual healing that anyone can use. Karen is simply a conduit for the Reiki healing energy. She has studied and been attuned to the Reiki energy by a Reiki Master.
Finally, as a Holistic Health Counselor, Karen encourages mindful eating and lifestyle choices that truly nurture each individual. There is no one diet perfect for everyone, because everyone is unique. As Karen works with her clients, they discover what works best. By food experimentation and substitution, her clients experience positive changes in many aspects of their lives. Her program is not about deprivation or harsh self-discipline. It’s about self-discovery, nurturing and learning to live in balance.
